Panama bunker sales dropped in November
Panama's total bunker sales dropped by 11% in November as fewer vessels arrived for bunkers.
Changes in Panama bunker fuel sales from October to November:
- Total sales down 56,000 mt to 468,000 mt
- HSFO sales down 26,000 mt to 131,000 mt
- VLSFO sales down 25,000 mt to 292,000 mt
- LSMGO sales up 8 mt to 38,000 mt
- 0.50% MGO sales down 5,000 mt to 7,000 mt
The number of ships bunkering in Panama’s ports dropped by 34 to 617 in November, but there were 82 more ships bunkering than in November last year.
The average stem size was roughly 759 mt, down from 806 mt in October, according to preliminary figures from the Panama Maritime Authority.
Three barges were added into operation in Panama, bringing the total count to 34 in November.
VLSFO sales dropped by 8% on the month, while LSMGO sales remained steady. HSFO sales fell by considerable 17% on the month, but was up by a massive 71% on a year-on-year basis.
VLSFO has been the most sought-after product in the first 11 months of this year, accounting for 61% of total bunker sales. HSFO sales represented 29% of the total and combined MGO sales were at 10%.
Product availability was also normal, and most suppliers were able to supply VLSFO and LSMGO grades with a lead time of 3-5 days.
