UAE-based bunker supplier Oil Marketing and Trading International (OMTI) supplied an unspecified quantity of a B30 blend in the Port of Fujairah.

The delivered stem comprised 30% renewable biofuel mixed with 70% conventional fuel. However, the company did not disclose further details about the bio-component.

This marked the first-ever B30 marine biofuel bunkering operation at the Port of Fujairah, OMTI claimed.

This development follows the IMO Marine Environment Protection Committee's (MEPC) approval of a draft amendment allowing bunker carriers certified as oil tankers to transport biofuel blends of up to B30—an increase from the previous 25% limit.

Under current IMO regulations, blends exceeding B30 must be transported on IMO Type II chemical tankers.

The company also did not reveal which bunker barge was used or identify the receiving vessel.
