Suez tanker traffic remains steady in March as the Red Sea crisis crosses the 100-day mark.

Over 100 days have passed since Yemen's Houthi rebel group began attacking commercial ships in the southern Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb Strait.

The Houthi militia has threatened to escalate attacks against Israel-linked ships "even through the Indian Ocean and from South Africa to the Cape of Good Hope," Iranian state-owned broadcast channel PressTV reported, citing Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi.

Daily tanker transits through the Suez Canal remained relatively stable at the end of March, despite the threat of increase in attacks in the region.

An average of 11 tankers/day passed through the Suez Canal in the second half of March, unchanged from the first half, according to the IMF's PortWatch data.

In contrast, tanker transit calls around the Cape of Good Hope are generally down over the past fortnight. An average of 17 tankers/day passed through the Cape of Good Hope in the second half of March, lower than 18 tankers/day in the first half.
