The 13,000-TEU vessel, CMA CGM Argon, was built by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in Mokpo, South Korea, the shipping company said.
The first vessel of the series, CMA CGM Iron, completed its maiden voyage from the shipyard in South Korea to the Port of Singapore in March. It currently operates on CMA CGM’s service route between Asia and the Middle East Gulf region.
The remaining 10 vessels, each with a capacity of 13,000 TEU, will be deployed between 2025 and 2026.
Several shipping companies are investing in methanol-capable ships to include methanol in their future fuel mix.
