Hong Kong braces for Tropical Storm Man-yi impact
Bunker operations in Hong Kong may be suspended starting tonight due to the approach of Tropical Storm Man-yi, a source says.
MAP: The projected path of Tropical Storm Man-yi as of Monday. HKO
Earlier today, the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) estimated that the tropical storm was located about 470 km south-southeast of Hong Kong and is likely to move west or west-northwest across the northern South China Sea. Tropical Storm Man-yi is forecast to pass approximately 400 km south of Hong Kong tomorrow morning.
A standby signal has been issued and will remain in effect until tomorrow morning, according to GAC Hot Port News.
The port is currently experiencing swells nearing one metre, which are expected to intensify tomorrow. Suppliers are already facing congestion and loading delays due to disruptions caused by Tropical Cyclone Toraji last week, the source added.
Lead times of around seven days are recommended for all fuel grades at the port.
