Proposed green ammonia plant in Suez includes bunkering option
Singapore-based renewable energy startup, Destiny Energy, plans to build a 100,000 mt/year green ammonia plant in Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone.

The project will integrate on-site green hydrogen production and use local solar and wind power to produce about 300 mt/day of green ammonia. The company has not yet provided a timeline, but said output could be allocated for bunkering, if buyers commit.
“We are in discussions with few large European buyers to offtake the entire volume of green ammonia from the SC Zone port,” Destiny Energy’s chief executive Vijay Sirse told ENGINE, without revealing company names. “We will not do ourselves the bunkering.”
Producing green ammonia in Egypt can help reduce emissions and improve access for Egyptian exports to European markets, said Hossam Heiba, chief executive of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones.
He added that the government supports green ammonia projects through incentives that allow up to 55% of the investment cost to be reimbursed through tax relief over seven years.
Destiny Energy has also planned a 10,000 mt/year e-methanol project in Estonia for shipping allocation.
