Singapore's conventional bunker sales declined about 4% in September
A decrease in VLSFO and HSFO sales, along with fewer vessels arriving for bunkering, led to an almost 4% decline in the port’s total bunker sales in September compared to August.
Changes in bunker sales from August to September:
- Total sales down 166,000 mt to 4.60 million mt
- VLSFO sales down 150,000 mt to 2.35 million mt
- HSFO sales down 19,000 mt to 1.87 million mt
- MGO sales up 4,000 mt to 374,000 mt
VLSFO and HSFO sales in September fell by 6% and 1%, respectively, preliminary data from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore shows.
A total of 3,518 vessels arrived for bunkering during the month, which is 90 fewer than in August. Average daily sales also slipped slightly to 1,307 mt in September, compared with 1,320 mt in August.
Overall, the port’s total bunker sales for the first nine months of the year remained almost unchanged from the same period last year.
Fuel grade share of total sales in September (compared to year to date):
- 51% VLSFO (53% YTD)
- 41% HSFO (40% YTD)
- 8% MGO (8% YTD)
