The joint venture, named Seascale Energy, is a collaboration between Cargill's bunker procurement platform Pure Marine Fuels and Hafnia's subsidiary Bunker Alliance, it said.
Seascale Energy will initially procure 7.5 million mt/year in bunkering volume, with operations set to begin in the second quarter of this year, upon regulatory approvals, Hafnia said.
The joint venture will operate across major bunkering locations, including Singapore, Geneva, Copenhagen and Houston, the shipping company added.
The purpose of this joint venture is that they will use their greater weight to negotiate better bunker prices, and to expand their reach.
Seascale Energy will be owned jointly and equally by Cargill and Hafnia.
