Bahamas face rough seas as Hurricane Erin strengthens nearby
Bunkering operations at Freeport, Bahamas, are likely to face disruptions and delays through the weekend as Hurricane Erin intensifies.

Erin, now a sprawling Category 4 hurricane, has rapidly intensified while sweeping past the Caribbean islands.
The Bahamas's meteorology department reported that tropical storm conditions had set in across the country’s southeast and Turks and Caicos, cautioning that vessels should remain in port until the week’s end.
Besides Freeport, other ports likely to face marine disruptions include Nassau, Marsh Harbour, and Alice Town.
"If winds exceed 20 knots from any direction other than the east in Freeport, there’s a strong possibility that barges will not attend," a local source said.
Another source added, "Some major disturbances are expected with the hurricane approaching. Port operations are currently underway, and we expect them not to be completely halted, but seas are getting rough."
Meanwhile, bunker availability in Freeport remains good for both VLSFO and LSMGO, with recommended lead times of 4–5 days.
The shortest delivery window for either grade is currently around two days.
