Singapore Port aims to build electric harbour craft charging stations by 2025
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has invited companies to test electric harbour craft (e-HC) charging stations at five waterfront locations around the port.

MPA's proposal calls upon companies to install, commission, maintain and operate e-HC charging points and conduct pilot trials by 2024-2025.
It follows an expression of interest issued last month to design and develop an e-HC, MPA's chief executive Teo Eng Dih said in a social media post.
Harbour craft vessels are used for short-distance transportation of goods and passengers, usually within a harbour or port. It includes tugboats, pilot boats, ferries and barges, among others.
Charge points will be tested at Jurong Port, Marina South Pier, Pasir Panjang Ferry Terminal, PSA Marine - West Coast Base, and Sebarok Terminal between 2024 and 2025, Eng Dih added.
Meanwhile, MPA also teamed up with oil major Shell in April, to develop low- and zero-carbon fuels and charging infrastructure for electric ferries in Singapore.
Eng Dih said in April that the partnership with Shell would help Singapore Port to achieve its 2030 goal of having "all new harbour craft to be fully electric, be capable of using 100% biofuels or be compatible with net zero fuels, and achieving net zero emissions in our harbour craft, pleasure craft and tugboat sectors by 2050.”
