Stillstrom is Maersk’s offshore vessel-charging venture.

The consortium will receive funding from the EU's Horizon Europe research and innovation programme to test a pilot offshore power zone in Skagen, Denmark.

The project will allow vessels to plug into a power supply point with electricity provided via the Port of Skagen. It will initially support a single vessel connection to prove the concept in an operational environment.

It pilot will start in June and is expected to run for 36 months.

The consortium is also made up of classification society DNV, Aalborg University, the Port of Malta, Port of Skagen, University College London, Maersk and MARIN.
